DCS Media Alert 22 February 2021

DCS Media Alert
22 February 2021

WARNING TO ALL BIDDERS AND POTENTIAL SUPPLIERS: BID HO 4/2020: SUPPLY, DELIVERY AND OFF-LOADING OF NUTRITIONAL PRODUCTS (PERISHABLE PROVISIONS/ NON-PERISHABLE PROVISIONS) TO THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONAL SERVICES FOR THE PERIOD OF FIVE (5) YEARS: DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONAL SERVICES

It has come to the attention of the Department of Correctional Services (DCS) that there is a scam wherein bidders are contacted for the purposes of depositing money via ewallet or money market in order to correct their bidding documents.

This is purely a scam and we would like to caution bidders not to entertain this con artist, who is going by the name of Jacob Sibanyoni. He then cites a Bid Number to creates an impression that it is an urgent matter requiring a hurried correction and must be paid in order to effect necessary changes.

This is in relation to BID HO 4/2020: SUPPLY, DELIVERY AND OFF-LOADING OF NUTRITIONAL PRODUCTS (PERISHABLE PROVISIONS/ NON-PERISHABLE PROVISIONS) TO THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONAL SERVICES FOR THE PERIOD OF FIVE (5) YEARS: DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONAL SERVICES.

It is unfortunate that some have already fallen victim to this scam as this person persists in search of widening his net.

All bidders and potential suppliers are thus cautioned to be vigilant and take precautionary measures by verifying directly with DCS when seeking clarity or assistance.

At no point will DCS request monies from a bidder. It must also be noted that official communication is done through a letter head and must be signed by the relevant authority.

Bidders and potential suppliers can also call the National Procurement Office at 012 305 8268 or 012 307 2410 in order to confirm the validity of communication.

The Department of Correctional Services will not be responsible for compensation of any losses incurred due to this fraudulent activity.
