National Deputy Director : Ministry of Agriculture (Mozambique) : Cashew

The cashew nut industry in Mozambique was of strategic importance to
its national economy, as the main foreign currency earner. To develop and
implement a cashew master plan and growth policy,
the objective of which was the revival of the cashew sector; re-launch
Mozambique competitiveness in the global and lucrative exotic nuts industry;
the plan looked at both the agricultural component (massive re-planting of
cashew trees employing genetic engineering methods) and total
rehabilitation/upgrading all the factories to absorb the agricultural
output.
