The Directorate: Employee Wellness (EW), with the support of Human Resource Development (HRD), successfully coordinated Comprehensive Health Screenings and Financial Education programmes at Kroonstad Training College on 09 May 2026 and Zonderwater Training College on 16 May 2026. The initiative empowered newly recruited learners through access to important health, wellness, and financial education services.

Before the commencement of health screenings, all participating service providers were afforded an opportunity to engage learners in the main hall and present information about their services. This platform enabled learners to ask questions, receive clarity, and gain a better understanding of the wellness, health, and financial support services available to them.
The programme provided voluntary on-site health screenings, including HIV Counselling and Testing, TB screening, glucose and cholesterol testing, BMI assessments, and wellness support services. Learners also received valuable financial education on responsible financial management, savings, funeral policies, life cover, and the dangers of over-indebtedness.

Despite long queues for screenings, learner participation remained exceptionally encouraging and positive. Zonderwater learners further uplifted officials and service providers through inspiring music performances and a vibrant choir presentation.
The initiative demonstrated the Department’s continued commitment to employee wellness, disease prevention, financial literacy, and the promotion of healthy lifestyles amongst newly recruited learners.
