A delegation from India’s Academy of Prisons and Correctional Administration (ACPA) visited Kgoši Mampuru II Management Area on 13 July 2026 as part of an ongoing knowledge-sharing initiative to strengthen international collaboration and exchange best practices in correctional management.
The delegation, comprising senior academy officials, toured the facility’s Woodwork and Steel Workshops, where they observed furniture and steel products produced by offenders – including beds used within the correctional system – as part of their rehabilitation programme.
These workshops demonstrate how vocational training and productive work contribute to departmental self-sufficiency while equipping offenders with practical skills that enhance employability and support successful reintegration into society upon release.
C-Max Correctional Facility Tour
The delegation also visited C-Max Correctional Facility, gaining valuable insight into the management of high-risk offenders, security operations, and the measures implemented to ensure a safe and well-managed correctional environment.
The benchmarking visit provided a meaningful platform for professional engagement, allowing delegates to exchange ideas, explore innovative correctional practices, and reaffirm their shared commitment to rehabilitation, institutional excellence, and international cooperation in corrections.

The visit concluded on a positive note, with the ACPA delegation expressing appreciation for the Department of Correctional Services’ integrated approach to corrections.
Delegates were particularly impressed by the Department’s commitment to offender rehabilitation through self-sufficiency and sustainability initiatives, vocational skills development, and effective security practices. They acknowledged the value of the benchmarking visit in broadening their understanding of innovative correctional approaches.
