{"id":11043,"date":"2026-06-18T08:03:48","date_gmt":"2026-06-18T08:03:48","guid":{"rendered":"\/?page_id=11043"},"modified":"2026-06-18T08:03:49","modified_gmt":"2026-06-18T08:03:49","slug":"national-commissioner-excited-about-dcs-progress-towards-management-of-mangaung-correctional-centre","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"\/?page_id=11043","title":{"rendered":"National Commissioner Excited About DCS Progress Towards Management of Mangaung Correctional Centre"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery aligncenter has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" data-id=\"11045\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/P-1-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11045\" srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/P-1-1024x576.jpg 1024w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/P-1-300x169.jpg 300w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/P-1-768x432.jpg 768w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/P-1-400x225.jpg 400w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/P-1.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>National Commissioner (NC) of the Department of Correctional Services (DCS), Mr Makgothi Thobakgale visited the Mangaung Operational Hub in Grootvlei, Free State Province, on 10 July 2026 to assess the state of readiness and progress recorded for DCS to assume management of the public-private partnership (PPP) Mangaung Correctional Centre (MCC) come 1 July 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis visit is basically meant to take stock of how far we are in the process of assuming management of MCC,\u201d NC Thobakgale said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The two-phased visit kicked off with a walk-about to the operational hub at Grootvlei Management Area Mess Hall where DCS officials are assiduously working to ensure the smooth transition of MCC from private hands into the state fold.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery alignright has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-2 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" data-id=\"11046\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/P-3-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11046\" srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/P-3-1024x576.jpg 1024w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/P-3-300x169.jpg 300w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/P-3-768x432.jpg 768w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/P-3-1536x864.jpg 1536w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/P-3-400x225.jpg 400w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/P-3.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Highly impressed with the potency, dedication and service excellence these officials display as they do their work, NC Thobakgale\u2019s visit was aimed to encourage them to continue doing what they do best.&nbsp; He sung praises for a job well done and commended them for staying the course, despite all challenges they may have encountered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe acknowledge the work that you do.&nbsp; What is critically important is the fact that you are now part of history, since DCS has never taken up management of a privately-run correctional facility before.
